55,79,030 new voters enrolled in list, says CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) K M Nurul Huda said the number of country’s voters has stood at 10,98,19,112 (nearly 11 crore). Of them, 55,79,030 are new voters.

CEC came up with the figure while speaking at a programme at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Monday afternoon.

He said, “Country has now 5,54,82,530 male voters while 5,43,36,222 female and 360 transgender.

Law Affairs Ministry Anisul Huq was present at the meeting as chief guest. Besides, Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam, Mahbub Talukder, Kabita Khanam and Brigadier General (rtd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury and EC senior secretary Md Alamgir, among others, were present.
