5 more deaths, 552 fresh positive cases from Covid-19

Five more people died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the number of deaths to 175 in the country.

Besides, 552 more people tested positive for Covid-19 over the same period, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 8,790.

Prof DrNasima Sultana, additional director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS),disclosed the latest figures of deaths and infections in the daily online bulletin of DGHS on coronavirus situation on Saturday (May 2).

According to DGHS, a total of 177 individuals have recovered from the disease so far since Bangladesh recorded its first Covid-19 case on March 8.

“We've carried out tests on 5,827samples collected from across the country and 552 more patients have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection. The total number of infections has risen to 8,790,” she said.
