73 more Rohingyas found attached to NID server

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Seventy-three more Rohingya people were found attached to National Identity (NID) server for smart cards.

Earlier, Rohingya gang-leader Nur Alam, who was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Jadimura hill area of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday morning, was noticed connected to NID server.

The alleged Rohingya people used fake addresses of Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar in the applications.

The sensational information was uncovered by Election Commission’s own investigation.

In this case, EC and police started probe to take steps against those are involved in the forgery.

After Noor Alam’s death, his smart card went viral on social media.

In the application, he used address of Burma Colony under Bayezid police station of Chattogram city. But, residents of the area do not recognise Noor Alam. Nobody also has seen him there.

Fatema Begum, one of the residents of Burma Colony, said, “I never saw the man. I have no idea who used my address in his application.”

Another resident of the area said, “I have been living in the house for last 15 years. I do not know him, even never saw him here.”

A Rohingya woman, Lucky, was caught when she went to EC to receive smart card on August 19. Later, her husband Nozir Ahmed was also held. He also tried to fly for abroad using Bangladeshi passport.

After detaining of the couple, EC started investigation to uncover how many Rohingyas attached to the NID server for smart card and detected found 73 Rohingya people.

When asked, Senior District Election Official of Chattogram, said, “A probe body has already been formed to investigate into attachment of Rohingya people to NID server for smart cards. The team is investigating into the matter. Besides, NID wings was also informed the matter. They also formed another probe body with a technical expert.
