‘77% construction work of Padma Bridge completed’

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that around 77 percent of construction work of the Padma Bridge has been completed so far.

Quader, also general secretary of Awami League, made the disclosure while talking to the journalists at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

The 23rd span of the much-awaited Padma Multipurpose Bridge was installed on February 2 at Jajira point, making over 3.30km out of total 6.15km of the main structure of the bridge visible.

The 23rd span among the total 41 was placed between the 31 and the 32 pillars at the Jajira point of the bridge.

The 24th span of the Padma Bridge was installed on February 10, the minister said.

The construction of Padma Bridge will not be affected if the coronavirus situation comes under control within the next two months, he also said.
