ACC director’s wife burnt in fire dies

Senior Correspondent: Wife of Mohammad Yusuf, director of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), died in a city hospital after she was burnt in a fire that originated at their Uttara residence in the capital on Wednesday evening.

Tania, 45, passed away on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

Confirming the matter to risingbd this noon, Noor-e-Alam Siddique, officer-in-charge (OC) of Uttara East Police Station, said “The body will be handed over to its family after autopsy. Most parts of the body were burnt in the fire. She died in the hospital while undergoing treatment.”

Mentionable, the fire originated on the second floor of a six-storey building in the capital’s Uttara area yesterday evening, leaving the woman burnt. The woman was later admitted to the hospital.

The reason behind the fire is yet to be identified.
