Senior Correspondent: The ruling Awami League (AL) is set to issue show cause notices against the leaders who opposed ‘boat’ (election symbol) in recently concluded upazila polls.
The party will serve letters to the leaders from September 8.
AL general secretary, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader revealed the news.
The decision was taken in a meeting held at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office on Saturday. Besides the party general secretary, joint secretaries and organizational secretaries were present in the meeting.
After the meeting Obaidul Quader said, “Decision of issuing show cause notices to upazila rebels was taken earlier. Now we discussed how implementation process make faster. We will issue notices to 150 rebels from Sunday (September 08). They will be asked to reply within three weeks.”
In reply to a query, he said, “MPs and Ministers who are involved in instating the rebels would be served show cause notices.”
He, however, did not want to disclose their names.
He also said, “The instigators may also include central leaders. Those leaders and activists are found allegedly involved in instigating and rebel must get notices.”
