Abrar was beaten to death: Doctor after autopsy

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) student Abrar Fahad died of internal bleeding as he was beaten up indiscriminately.

Sohel Mahmud, head of Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) told this to the reporters on Monday noon after autopsy completed.

He said, “We found injury marks on Abrar’s hands, legs and back. He was beaten up by blunt objects like bamboo or stick. He died of internal excessive bleeding.”

He further said, “Chopping mark was found on his forehead. Besides, bruises marks were found on most of the parts of his body.”

Abrar (21), a resident of Sher-E-Bangla residential hall, was found unconscious on staircase of Sher-e-Bangla Hall of BUET early Monday. He was a second-year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Later, he was rushed to DMCH where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, two leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Buet unit were detained for their suspected involvement in the death of Abrar.

The detainees are – General Secretary Mehedi Hasan Rasel and Vice-President Muttakim Fuhad.
