Advanced Technology introduces insulated sandwich panel

Staff Correspondent: Advanced Technology & Ideas Ltd, a concern of Advanced Group, has begun to manufacture insulated sandwich panel in industrial form for the first time in Bangladesh.

The insulated sandwich panel (ISP) has been a new type of multi-purpose construction material. It is featured with temperature keeping, heat and sound insulation, waterproof and fire-resistant functions as well as lightweight and decorative application. It is widely used as the wall or roof for industrial or residential buildings, commercial buildings, and prefabricated houses and for many more applications in daily life.

Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is being used as the core insulation material for advanced insulated sandwich panels. EPS is a type of insulation that is molded or expanded to produce coarse, closed cells containing air. Expansion is achieved by virtue of small amounts of pentane gas dissolved into the polystyrene base material during production. EPS foam products whether used for insulation or packaging are lightweight, versatile, sanitary, energy efficient and most importantly cost effective.

With a new production facility, the company has the ability to produce 200,000 m3 with an extension to maximum 600,000 m3 of EPS blocks and 500,000 square meter of high quality EPS insulated sandwich panels per year. The factory is located at Munshigonj on Dhaka-Chittagong highway spread over a land of 55,000 sq. meter.

EPS Sandwich panel production process adopts the colored steel plate as surface board and the core material is the non-combustible closed cell polystyrene foams. It is a kind of high strength composite building material and it is formed in the automated continuous molding machine by combining the pressed colored steel with adhesives compressed under hydralic press. It has the characteristics of complete insulation as well as non-combustible, fast construction speed, durability and beautiful appearance etc.

Wall, partitions and roof for industrial infrastructure, industrial work stations, enclosures and sheds, ware houses for pharmaceutical, RMG and tea industries, cold storages, low cost rural houses, schools and colleges, knock-down houses, exhibition halls, clean room environments, floating houses, rehabilitation centers and wide range of occupancies like accommodations on site, mobile clinics, emergency shelters and border security posts (BOPs), army training camps etc. and many more purpose in everyday life.

ISOWALL International (UK) Limited, a UK based globally reputed sandwich panel expert, has been associated with Advanced Technology & Ideas Ltd. under a technical licence agreement program under which ISOWALL, UK will remain involved and participate in all sorts of technological and technical activities with ATI on manufacturing technology, plant operation, material specification, panel approval and certification, panel installation and application technology, panel testing, design details, marketing strategies, design and application for panel end use, etc.

For several decades, EPS has been used in fast track construction, conferring numerous advantages compared to ‘build on site’ systems.
