Anti-narcotics official dies after taking liquor!

Much-talked anti-narcotics officer Monojit Kumar Biswas has died after taking liquor in Khulna.

He was among the list of nine victims who died after excessive alcohol during Durga Puja celebration.  

Monojit Kumar Biswas, 52, son of Dhiraj Biswas, hailed from Arzen Ali By-lane area of Khulna Metropolitan, left behind a son and a daughter.  

On February 27, 2018, detaining two accused with cannabis, the anti-drug officer (SI) Monojit Kumar went to Batiaghata police station along with a constable named Md Selim and his source Sushil. Meanwhile, duty officers in the police station arrested them noticing their drug addicted activities and informed anti-narcotics department. However, his colleagues from anti-narcotics department released him from police after giving bond.   

Following the incident, Monojit Kumar was suspended. Later, he got demotion. He recently joined Noakhali district office of anti-narcotics department.

Finally, the much-talked officer died after drinking excessive alcohol during Durga Puja in the metropolitan city on Wednesday (October 9). He was cremated in his native village after autopsy in Khulna Medical College Hospital on Friday.

Biplab Modok, Assistant Director (AD) of Narcotics Department Noakhali district office said, “ASI Monojit Biswas joined Noakhali district office in August. On October 3, he took leave on the occasion of Durga Puja. Later, his wife informed us that he is sick and taking treatment at hospital. His death news came on Thursday. However, it is not clear yet that drugs were behind the death.”
