Avoid public gatherings to prevent spread of coronavirus: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday urged the countrymen to avoid public gatherings to contain the spread of the coronavirus infections in the country.

She said, “There is nothing to be worried over coronavirus outbreak.”

The Prime Minister came up with the call while attending a cabinet meeting on Monday.

Health Service Division Secretary Md Ashadul Islam, who was present at the meeting, told this to the reporters after the meeting.

The cabinet meeting was held at the Ganabhaban with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in chair.

In reply to a quary, the secretary said, “Concern ministry will take the decision whether school and colleges would be closed if necessary.

Earlier on Sunday, the IEDCR confirmed that three Bangladeshis were infected with coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of the coronavirus infected Bangladeshis, two have recently returned from Italy and are being treated at a hospital in the capital while a family member of one of the two is the third person affected with the virus.
