BCL men attack on protesters in JU

Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit allegedly attacked protesters who sieged residence of Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof DrFarzana Islam demanding her removal on corruption charges, leaving at least 20 people including teachers, students and journalists injured.

It was learnt that more than one hundred BCL men led by JU BCL unit president Jewel Rana rushed the spot with a procession and attacked on the protesters on Tuesday noon.

The injured were taken to the university medical centre immediately.

Meanwhile, JU BCL president Jewel Rana termed protesters as Shibir activists.

He said, “Those demonstrating demanding resignation of VC are Shibir activists.”

He also urged university authority to find out reasons and motives behind the movement of Shibir activists.
