Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) has decided to keep knitwear factories closed until April 11.
The decision was taken after thousands of workers of the factories returned to Dhaka.
A special direction signed by BKMEA president AKM Selim Osman confirmed the matter around 12:00am on Sunday.
‘Considering the situation, we are requesting all factory owners to keep their factories closed until April 11,’ read the direction.
Earlier on Saturday night, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Dr Rubana Hug urged the owners to keep their factories closed until April 11 to help tackle the spread of coronavirus.
