BNP MP Harun demands removal of health minister

Bangladesh Nationalist Party MP Harunur Rashid has demanded removal of health minister Zahid Maleque for ‘his failure to take effective steps in the coronavirus situation’.

The Chapainawabganj-3 MP made the demand participating in the general discussion on the proposed national budget for FS2020-21 in the parliament session on Tuesday.

He said, ‘Director General (DG) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) does not receive phone calls. Even he does not respond when he is texted. None of PS, PA, and directors of the office receive phone calls. Chinese medical experts’ team has expressed frustration over the coronavirus management situation in Bangladesh. The DGHS has turned into a handicapped institution.

He also made an urge to bring changes there and replace the health minister by a skilled person able to handle the situation in a proper way.
