Bangladesh reports 2,459 new Covid-19 cases, 37 deaths

A total of 37 more people died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the number of deaths to 2,618 in the country.

Besides, a total of 2,459 more people tested positive for Covid-19 over the same period, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 2,04,525.

Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), disclosed the latest figures of deaths and infections in the daily online bulletin of DGHS on coronavirus situation in Dhaka on Sunday (July 19).

As many as 1,546 patients have recovered in past 24 hours, Prof Dr Nasima Sultana said.

According to DGHS, a total of 1,11,642  individuals have recovered from the disease so far since Bangladesh recorded its first Covid-19 case on March 8.

“We've carried out tests on 10,625 samples collected from across the country and 2,459 more persons have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection. The total number of infections has risen to 2,04,525” she said.
