Bangladesh reports record coronavirus deaths, infections

Record 45 more people died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the number of deaths to 975 in the country.

Besides, record 3,171 more people tested positive for Covid-19 over the same period, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 71,675.

Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), disclosed the latest figures of deaths and infections in the daily online bulletin of DGHS on coronavirus situation in Dhaka on Tuesday (June 9).

According to DGHS, a total of 15,336 individuals have recovered from the disease so far since Bangladesh recorded its first Covid-19 case on March 8.

“We've carried out tests on 14,664 samples collected from across the country and 3,171 more patients have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection. The total number of infections has risen to 71,675” she said.
