‘Bangladesh to get priority if China invents vaccine’

Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said China is working for coronavirus vaccine and they have made progress a lot in inventing vaccine. China assured us that Bangladesh would be given priority to receive vaccine if that country develops it.

The Minister said this while speaking at press briefing before seeing off 10-member medical experts’ team at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday.

In reply to a query, Zahid Maleque said another 2,000 new doctors will be appointed if the number coronavirus infected patients has been increasing on this rate. In addition, the recruitment of medical technologists is currently underway. The government will take steps considering further coronavirus situation.

The Chinese team is satisfied with Bangladesh’s work in preventing Covid-19. However, the team also informed the government that there is a room for improvement in some other areas to fight against Covid-19. We will work on the identified issues in the coming days, he added.

Zahid Maleque said the kit is not available as per the demand. Because currently there is a demand for kits in all the countries of the world. There should not be a shortage what is in stock. Even if crisis arises for any reason, the government has taken steps to resolve it very quickly. So there is no reason to be worried about the kit at the moment.
