Barrister Mainul secures bail in defamation case

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has granted bail to former adviser to a caretaker government Barrister Mainul Hosein in connection with a defamation case filed by a female journalist last year.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain on Sunday passed the order.

Earlier, the court sent Barrister Mainul Hosein to jail after rejecting his bail petition in connection with the defamation case.

Barrister Mainul surrendered before the court and sought bail in the case on September 3, but the court rejected his bail petition and sent to jail. 

Masuda Bhatti, acting editor of Dainik Amader Notun Somoy, filed the case against Mainul as he hurled abusive words at her during a television talk show in October last year.
