Bhutanese PM extends Eid greetings to Sheikh Hasina

Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering called his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina over phone and extended greetings to her on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims.

The Bhutanese premier made the phone call to the Bangladesh prime minister at about 7:55 pm on Saturday (May 23).

PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said, "The Bhutanese premier phoned the Bangladesh prime minister at about 7:55 pm and extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to her (Sheikh Hasina) and the people of Bangladesh."

The press secretary said during the 15-minute conversation, the Bangladesh premier also extended her greetings to Lotay Tshering and the Bhutanese people on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

The press secretary said the Bhutanese premier enquired about the damages caused by super cyclone Amphan in Bangladesh and expressed sympathy over the loss of life and property due to the cyclone.

The Bangladesh prime minister thanked her Bhutanese counterpart for making the phone call and expressing sympathy over the damages caused by the Amphan.

The issue related to ongoing coronavirus situation also came up for discussion between the two leaders, Ihsanul Karim said.
