Blast at house in Gazipur, 3 burnt

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Three members of a family have suffered burn injuries after a blast at their house in Kathra Kazibari area under Gazipur City Corporation early Saturday.

The burn victims are house owner Yakub Ali Mandol, 60, his wife Aklima Khatun, 50, and father-in-law Nur Mohammad, 80.

According to fire service and locals, after a blast a fire broke out at the one-storey building of Yakub Ali Mandol. 

Locals rescued victims and took them to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

DMCH police outpost in-charge Bacchu Miah said Yakub Ali Mandol has received 100 percent burn injury, Aklima Khatun 95 percent and Nur Mohammad 25 percent.

GSP Sadar Thana Officer In-Charge Samir Chandro Sutradhor and Joydebpur Fire Station Officer Jakaria Khan said the cause of the blast may be gas leakage.
