Buet gets new VC

Dr Satya Prasad Majumder has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor (VC) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet). 

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education under the Education Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Thursday (June 25).

Prior to this, Majumder was a professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Buet. He also performed as director of the Directorate of Students' Welfare (DSW) of Buet.

Majumder will serve in his new role for the next four years.

He will replace outgoing VC of Buet Prof Saiful Islam. Prof Saiful Islam was appointed by the government as the VC of the country’s top engineering university in 2016.

Dr Majumder joined Buet in 1981 and served in various positions at the EEE department, faculty and university levels.
