CID presses charge sheet against Enu, Rupon

The Criminal Investigation Department of police on Wednesday submitted a charge sheet against expelled Awami League leaders Enamul Haque Enu, his brother Rupon Bhuiyan and others in four cases inliding a case of illegal casino business and money laundering.

A CID inspector,  also the investigation officer, submitted the charge sheet under the Money Laundering Prevention Act 2012 to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.

General recording officer of court and Sub Inspector Md Sarwar Hossain confirmed this on Thursday.

Enamul was the director of Dhaka Wanderers Club and vice-president of the Awami League’s Gandaria unit, while his brother Rupon was joint general secretary of the same unit.

Rapid Action Battalion on September 24, 2019, seized Tk 5 crore in cash, 720 tolas of gold and five firearms after raiding the houses of Enamul, one of his friends and an employee in Old Dhaka.

After the arrest of the two brothers, the battalion on February 24, 2020 in a raid seized Tk 26.55 crore and Tk 5.15 crore in fixed deposits from the house of Enamul and Rupon at Wari in the capital.
