Bangladesh became the champions of ICC Under-19 World Cup for the very first time in their cricketing history when they beat India by three wickets in a tensed final in Potchefstroom, South Africa on Sunday.
The World Cup winning Bangladesh U-19 squad returned home on Wednesday afternoon.
The Akbar Ali-led side, who were unbeaten in the tournament, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 4:45pm local time on an Emirates flight.
BCB directors and high-ups including its president Nazmul Hasan Papon were present at the airport to welcome the champion.
They all reached there from BCB headquarters of Mirpur.
Before they started for the airport, BCB president Papon was asked whether it was the biggest achievement in his tenure?
He replied, “There is nothing of my tenure or time. The achievement has not relation to my time. They played really well. This is one of the biggest tournament of ICC. So, we will get pride for next two years and can live in peace for the period.”
