'Cattle markets to be set up following health guidelines'

Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Md Tajul Islam said cattle markets will be set up this year on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Azha following health guidelines and social distancing.

The minister said this in an online meeting at his secretariat office on Thursday (June 25).

Minister Tajul Islam directed the authorities concerned to ensure the slaughtering of sacrificial animals at designated spots and removal of wastes at earliest possible time.

At the meeting, the minister said that after sacrificing animals on the day of Eid, necessary steps should be taken to remove animal wastes as soon as possible using the previous experience.

Tajul Islam said a sufficient number of magistrates and members of law enforcement agencies would be kept ready to ensure overall safety at the cattle markets.

Dhaka's two city corporation mayors Md Atiqul Islam and Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and other concerned officials also joined the meeting.
