Channel i presenter Moulana Faruqui slaughtered at his home

Staff Correspondent: Unidentified miscreants slaughtered an Islamic program presenter of private television channel at his residence in East Rajabazar in the capital on Wednesday evening.

 

The deceased Moulana Nurul Islam Faruqui was the presenter of Channel i`s Islamic programme ‘Kafela’ and ‘Shantir Pothe’.

 

He was also the ‘Khatib’ of the High Court Mazar mosque.

 

Police said Moulana Faruqui was slaughtered at his East Rajabazar residence around 9.00 pm.

 

Deceased’s family sources said two unknown youths came to Moulana Nurul Islam Faruqi around 7:30pm and sought suggestion over performing Hajj.

 

Later, a group of six to seven miscreants joined them and tied up the other family members of Moulana Nurul Islam Faruqi. They also demanded Tk. 50,000 from him.

 

At one stage, the miscreants slaughtered Moulana Nurul Islam Faruqi and left the house.

 

Law enforcers reached the spot as a tense situation was prevailing at the area.

 

A high official of police said that they had suspected militants’ involvement in the murder.
