Five mayoral aspirants including current mayor Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin have collected nomination forms of the ruling Awami League (AL) to contest in Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Polls.
Nasir Uddin collected the nomination form from AL president’s political office in the capital’s Dhanmondi around 12:15pm on Tuesday.
He took the form from the party’s deputy publicity secretary Aminul Islam Amin and deputy office secretary Sayem Khan.
Earlier on Sunday and Monday, former AL leader of Chattogram Metropolitan and former Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc, his son Mujibur Rahman, Chattogram Metropolitan AL vice-president Khurshid Alam Sujon and Joint Secretary Rezaul Karim collected forms.
AL started selling nomination forms from Sunday for CCC polls.
Nasir Uddin said the decision of AL president, also PM, is the final decision in this regard. I’m devoted to accept our beloved leader’s decision.
Election Commission (EC) Secretary Md Alamgir said schedule of election to Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) will be announced on February 16.
It was learnt that the polls are likely to be in last week of March. EC officials believe, the polls might be held on March 29 or March 30.
