Chechnya’s Kadyrov hospitalised in Moscow with coronavirus

The Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is reportedly under medical supervision because of suspected Covid-19, Russian media reported.

Kadyrov flew to Moscow on Wednesday, after presenting flu-like symptoms, according to the Interfax agency, which quoted another source.

The 43-year-old leader of Russia’s North Caucasus region has been diagnosed with pneumonia and taken to “one of the best clinics in Moscow” after possibly being infected by the coronavirus, Baza, an independent online news agency reported.

Chechen officials did not confirm the news. If confirmed, Kadyrov will be the latest high-profile Russian official to contract the illness.
