Child-lifting rumour: Victim was mother of two kids

Staff Correspondent:   A woman, who was beaten to death by angry mobs in capital’s Baddda area on Saturday in suspect of a child-lifter, was a mother of two kids.

The victim was identified as Taslima Begum Renu, 40, and a mother of two children. Her husband left her two years ago, and she used to reside in a house in Mohakhali area with her two children.

According to police, Taslima went to Uttar Badda Govt Primary School in the morning to be admitted one of her kids to the school.

A rumour spread around that the woman was a child lifter and angry people gave her a good beating, leaving her critically injured.

On information, police appeared at the spot, rescued the woman and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead. Later, family members identified the body at the hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Badda Police Station said a legal action will be taken against them who are involved in the killing.
