Chinese corona vaccine to be applied to 2,100 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC) has approved a Covid-19 vaccine developed by a Chinese company for the Phase-3 trial in Bangladesh.

International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) will conduct the trial. The trial will begin next month.

BMRC Director Dr Mahmood-uz-Jahan told this to the reporters on Sunday.

He said the vaccine will be administered to 2,100 health workers at the seven selected hospitals.

The hospitals are: Mugda General Hospital, two units of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Kurmitola General Hospital, Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital, Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, and Mahanagar General Hospital. 

Chinese company Sinovac Research and Development Co Ltd has already conducted the Sars-CoV-2 “inactivated” Vaccine (Phase I and Phase II) trial in china.
