‘Controversial candidates won’t get nomination’

Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, no controversial candidates will get nomination in mayoral and councilor posts.

Obaidul Quader said this while addressing inaugural ceremony of a six-lane expressed way on Bhogra-Joydebpur-Madanpur (Dhaka-Bypass) around 11:00am on Thursday.

He said, “All kinds of support will be provided from the side of the government to hold a free, fair and neutral election in two city corporations of Dhaka. The government will not interfere in the polls.”  

In reply to a question regarding expressway, Obaidul Quader said, the construction work of Dhaka expressway will be done in time.

Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi (Bir Pratik), chief engineer of Roads and Highways Department (RHD) division chief engineer Jawed Alam, Expressway project director Sabuj Uddin Khan and others attended the function.
