Cost of Bangabandhu rail bridge to rise by Tk7,046cr

The cost of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge on the Jamuna River is to rise by Tk7,046 crore as construction did not start on schedule.
The first amendment proposal for the project, which pushed the cost up to Tk16,780 crore, was approved on Tuesday at the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council meeting, Planning minister MA Mannan confirmed.
In 2016, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council approved the Tk9,734.07 crore project.
With Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, the cabinet committee approved a total of eight projects, including Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority's emergency water supply project.
