Councillor Rajib sent to jail

A Dhaka court has sent txpelled Jubo League leader and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) ward councillor Tarequzzaman Rajib to jail after ending remand in two cases filed under arms and narcotics acts.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sayeed passed the order on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case DB Inspector Fazlul Haque produced him before the court after 14-day remand period ended.

Rapid Action Battalionn (RAB) arrested Rajib from one of his friends’ home in the capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area on October 19 in a raid carried out as part their ongoing drive against graft.
