Country’s highest-ever road inaugurated

Staff Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country’s highest ever Thanchi-Alikadam road in Bandarban district through a video conference from the Gono Bhaban on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Ashulia-Birulia road and a four-loan project in Ranpur.

The 33 kilometer-long and 18 feet wide Thanchi-Alikadam road has been paved 3,500 feet above from sea level, the highest road of the country and one of the highest roads in South Asia.

In 2006, the construction work of the 35-kilometer road started with the help of engineering department of Bangladesh Army, involving Tk120 crore.
