Court puts Shamim on remand for 10 days

A Dhaka court has placed Golam Kibria Shamim alias GK Shamim, who was arrested from the capital’s Niekton, on remand for 10 days (5 days in each) in two separate cases filed against him under narcotics control and arms acts.

Alongside, the court also put Shamim’s bodyguards Delowar Hossain, Murad Hossain, Jahidul Islam, Shahidul Islam, Kamal Hossain, Samshad Hossain and Aminul Islam on 4-day remand each in a case filed under Arms act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Mahmuda Akter passed the order on Saturday.

RAB arrested GK Shamim from his Niketon office in Gulshan along with his seven bodyguards on Friday. Allegations of extortion, tender and illegal casino business were found against him.

Law enforcers also recovered drugs and arms while he had been arrested. RAB also seized huge amount of cash money and Fixed Deposit Receipts (FDRs).
