The ‘Adalat Kartik Tathiya Projukti Bebohar Bill 2020' (Court’s IT use Bill 2020) was passed in the parliament on Wednesday (July 8).
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq placed the bill before the parliament. Later, the bill was passed by voice vote.
Earlier, the members of Jatiya Party and BNP lawmakers proposed to get people’s opinion before passing the bill. But, their proposal was rejected by voice vote.
The bill is intended to ensure the virtual presence of the parties during the judicial inquiry, petition, appeal hearing, testimony, argument, order or verdict of the case during ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
