DU shut down amid coronavirus fears

The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) announced that the university will remain closed from March 18 to 28, in order to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman made the announcement at a press briefing in presence of all faculty deans, departmental heads and hall provosts on Monday noon (March 16).

"All academic activities will remain suspended from March 18 to 28 for ensuring the security of our students,” he said, as the country announced detection of three new coronavirus or COVID-19 cases.
