DU students stage sit-in programme in front of VC’s residence

A section of Dhaka University (DU) students have staged a sit-in programme in front of the residence of university’s vice-chancellor demanding solution to their accommodation crisis.

Students of ‘Gono Rooms’ (mass rooms) gathered in front of VC’s residence and tried to move into the vice chancellor’s residence on Tuesday morning.

After being barred at the entrance by a proctorial team, students took position there.

On October 1, Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) member Tanbir Hasan Shaikat issued a 15-day ultimatum to the university administration to resolve the accommodation crisis on campus.

Tanbir said, “we will continue our programme if the authority fails to take any effective measure”.
