Dengue test kits to be made in country: PM

Parliament Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, the process has been started to make dengue test kits in the country.

The premier made the disclosure while replying to a question of Jatiya Party MP Md Rustam Ali Farazi at the fourth session at National Parliament on Wednesday.

She said, “According to the World Health Organization Guidelines 2018, with the assistance of renowned medicine and child specialists, a national guideline has been created to manage the dengue disease. The guideline has been distributed among the government and private doctors. The process to make dengue test kits started from last August 6 bringing raw materials from abroad. As a result, about 35,000 kits will be possible to supply per day. So, there is no possibility to face dengue test kits crisis.”   

The dengue outbreak has been increased in 127 tropical countries across the world. Dengue outbreak is seen here in Bangladesh this year. It is a mosquito-borne disease. Aedes mosquito bite causes dengue fever. Combined efforts of all can prevent Aedes mosquito breeding and control dengue outbreak.

Sheikh Hasina said, individual dengue corner have been opened in private and public hospitals in Dhaka city. Free dengue tests have been confirmed at the government hospitals and fixed price at a private hospital. We have confirmed the import / supply of related kits for Dengue testing.  

"Awami League has formed monitoring team in 64 districts with the assistance of experienced doctors to prevent, detect dengue fever."
