The High Court (HC) has ordered the trial court to finish the trial proceedings of a case filed against former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonagazi Police Station Moazzem Hossain within 40 working days.
The High Court has also refused bail to the former OC in the case involving the release of a video of a statement by slain Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi on social media.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed on Sunday.
Advocate Md Ahsanullah and Advocate Rana Kawser appeared for Moazzem while Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman argued for the case against Moazzem.
On April 15, Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the case with Dhaka Cyber Tribunal against Moazzem under the Digital Security Act, for recording Nusrat’s statement on camera without her consent and circulating it on social media.
Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa in Feni, was set on fire on April 6, allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against madrasa principal Siraj Ud Doula for sexually harassing her.
