Dr Sabrina divorces her husband for his misdeeds: Lawyer

JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Sharmin Hussain has divorced her husband Arif Hossain, Oval Group Chairman and CEO of JKG Health Care, for his misdeeds.

Her lawyers claimed this in hearing at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masud-Ur-Rahman on Friday. However, the court placed Dr Sabrina on a fresh two-day remand.

Dr Sabrina were produced before the court around 12:30pm from DB office of the capital’s Minto Road after her three-day remand ended.

Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Inspector (civil) Liakat Ali of Tejgaon zonal team sought a fresh five-day remand for Dr Sabrina.

Before starting remand hearing, Dr Sabrina’s lawyers said we could not see remand forward the day before, even not today. Can we not know what allegations have brought against the accused? Though the stateside gets document in this regard, we do not. He is a citizen of Bangladesh, we are too. The accused is also a citizen of Bangladesh. She is also a BCS cadre. Why do we not get rights of seeing the document? Then, the judge stretched remand forward document to them.

At first general registrar of the concern police station Farid Mia said, ‘JKG Health Care is sister concern Oval Group. She (Dr Sabrina) is chairman of it. The accused embezzled lakhs of money through delivering fake coronavirus certificate. Her husband Ariful Haque is owner of JKG Health Care. They tarnished image of Bangladesh across the world through supplying fake coronavirus certificate. The IO sought for another five-day remand for Dr Sabrina for the sake of investigation. I prayed for the highest remand for the accused.’

Assistant Public Prosecutor Hemayet Uddin Khan (Hiron) said, ‘The accused is a physician. Her job was to serve people. But she did not do that, rather se has endangered people’s lives. Because of her, people hate physicians. Her behavior is like of a murderer. Sabrina and Shahed are from same flock. Country’s people embarrass with their activities.’

Sabrina’s lawyers Saifuzzaman (Tuhin), Obaidul Hassan, Abdus Salam sought for bail after rejecting remand plea.

They said, ‘The accused is a doctor and a BCS cadre. She was remanded for three days earlier. No information was uncovered. She is not involved with the institute. If her husband or others are involved, it is not her fault. Moreover, she divorced her husband for his misdeeds.’

Sabrina’s lawyers said, ‘the Accused Sabrina is none of JKG Health Care. If someone says he/she is chairman of any institute, he/she will be so? She a victim of media trial and media trial is very dangerous. The investigation team could not probe that she is chairman of JKG in previous remand. Why is remand again? We sought bail for her.’

After hearing, the court placed her on fresh two-day remand.

On 2:06pm, DB police took Dr Sabrina away Dr Sabrina from the court.
