Dr Yunus gets bail

A labour court in Dhaka has granted bail to Nobel Laureate and Grameen Bank founder Dr Muhammad Yunus in connection with three cases filed over sacking of three employees of Grameen Communications.

Dhaka 3rd Labour Court acting Chairman Zakia Parveen passed the order as Dr Yunus, chairman of Grameen Communications, surrendered before it on Sunday noon.

The court granted bail to him on a Tk 10,000 bond in each case.

Earlier on October 28, the High Court ordered Muhammad Yunus to surrender by November 7 in cases. It also directed the law enforcement agency not to harass Yunus.

The Third Labour Court of Dhaka issued an arrest warrant for Dr Yunus on Oct 9 as he failed to appear in the court in connection with the three cases.
