Eid congregation: Govt issues 11 directives

The government has urged Muslim devotees to offer Eid prayer in the nearest mosques instead of Eidgah and open spaces maintaining recommended health advice amid coronavirus outbreak.

A press release signed by Md Anwar Hossain, senior information officer of the Ministry of Religious Affairs made the call on Tuesday.

In the press release, Muslim devotees were asked to follow several directives mentioned bellow:

1.    Eid prayers should be performed in mosques instead of Eidgah or open spaces. If necessary, more than one Jamaat should be arranged in the same mosque.
2.    Carpets cannot be laid in the mosque during prayers. The entire mosque should be sprayed with disinfectant before the prayers. The worshipers have to bring Janamaz on their own responsibility.
3.    Worshipers will come to the mosque after taking ablution from their homes respectively.
4.    Soap water or hand sanitizer should be kept at the gate and ablution place of the mosque.
5.    Worshipers must come to mosque after wearing mask. Janamaz and caps of mosque cannot be used.
6.    When standing in queue during Eid prayers, everybody has to follow ‘social distance’ and ‘health regulations’. After two queues, one should be left empty.
7.    Children, elderly people, any kind of sick person, person who is serving the patient, do not participate in Eid Jamaat.
8.    For protection of public health, the guidelines issued by DGHS, local administration and law enforcement agencies must be followed.
9.    Nobody can’t hug or shake hands at the end of the congregation.
10.    Khatib, imam, mosque management committee and local administration have to implement the issues.
11.    In case of animal sacrifice, the instructions of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock have to be followed.
