Ershad’s PS Khaled Akhter dies of coronavirus

Maj (retd) Md Khaled Akhter, personal secretary (PS) to late former President HM Ershad, has died of coronavirus or Covid-19 infection (Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un).

Khaled Akhter, also the former presidium member of Jatiya Party (JP), breathed his last at 6 am on Saturday (July 11) while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital.

Bidisha Siddique, chairman of Bidisha Foundation, confirmed his death to risingbd this morning.

“Khaled Akhter had been undergoing treatment at the CMH for nearly a month after being infected with coronavirus. He was put on life support for several days when his physical condition deteriorated. He died early today,” she said.

Expressing profound shock at the death of Khaled Akhter, she prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to his bereaved family members.
