Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that expatriates are playing a big role in our economy.

“We should not hanker after for jobs rather than we will provide people with jobs”, she said this at a reception accorded to her by Awami League Italy Chapter at Parco dei Principi Grand Hotel & Spa in Rome on Tuesday night.

Mentioning different facilities provided to the entrepreneurs, the Prime Minister urged the expatriates to invest in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh has attained an ability to advance further by competing any nation of the world and asserted that none can pull the country backward any more. She said.

“We’re implementing 90 per cent of our development projects by our own fund … now donors don’t come to give alms to us. Rather they come to provide assistance mentioning us their development partners. Because we don’t want alms to anybody,” she told the reception.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and President of Italy Chapter Awami League Hazi Mohammad Idris Farazi and General Secretary Hasan Iqbal and on behalf of the expatriate Bangladeshis, Hosne Ara Begum spoke at the function.
