Fire at Dhanmondi building, one dead

A fire broke out at a multi-storey building in Dhanmondi residential area of the city on Saturday morning.

A woman died of suffocation and another was injured in the incident.

The fire originated on the third floor of the 12 storey-building in Dhanmodi 6/A residential area.

On information, three firefighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire around 11:15am, said Rasel Shikdar, on-duty officer at Fire Service and Civil Defence control room.

Later, the firefighters entered the flat and rescued two people including Shaheda in critical condition. They sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared the woman dead.
