Flood situation worsens in Bogura

Bogura Correspondent: The flood situation in Sonatola, Sariakandi and Dhunat upazilas of Bogura district worsened further on Monday as water level of the Jamuna River kept on rising due to heavy rainfall and onrush of water from the upstream.
Over 1,000 of houses are washed away after the river burst its banks in the district. The flood affected people are living under open sky now. A total of 25 educational institutions were declared closed as flood hit the areas.
People of 40 villages are marooned as the flood inundated fresh areas. Flood hit Dhunat upazila’s Bhandarbari union, Sariakandi’s Chaluabari, Hatshepur, Kazla, Karnibari, Bohail, Chandbaisha, Kamalpur and Kutubpur union and Sonatotal upazila’s Pakulla and Tekanichukainagar union. Flood water damaged crops of the areas.
Local lawmaker Abdul Mannan told risingbd that the distribution of relief goods is underway. Crisis of food and drinking water will be solved within one or two days.
