GK Shamim’s 7 bodyguards denied bail

A Dhaka court rejected a bail petition filed by Jubo League leader GK Shamim’s seven bodyguards who were shown arrested in an arms case filed with Gulshan police station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atikul Islam rejected the bail petition on Sunday after a hearing in the case.

Earlier on September 26, Inspector Fazlul Haque of the Detective Branch (DB) of police, also the investigation officer of the case, appealed to the court to put the accused in jail on completion of four days of remand in the arms case.

Later, the court sent them to jail and set today (September 29) for hearing in the case.

The court today rejected their bail petition after a hearing in the case.

On September 20, Rapid Action Battalion arrested Jubo League leader Golam Kibria Shamim, recovered a large amount of money, arms, and drugs from Niketon in Dhaka's Gulshan area. RAB also detained seven of his bodyguards, and seized their arms.

The next day, the court placed Shamim’s seven bodyguards on four days of remand each and Shamim on a 10-day remand in cases filed under the Arms Act, and Narcotics Control Act.
