General holiday extended till May 5

In an effort to prevent the transmission of deadly coronavirus or COVID-19 in the country, the government has extended the ongoing general holiday till May 5.

Public Administration Secretary Sheikh Yusuf Haroon confirmed the matter to risingbd on Wednesday (April 22) afternoon.

"The government has taken a decision to extend the general holiday till May 5 to contain the spread of coronavirus. We are working on it. A circular will be issued in this regard once the work is completed," he said.

On March 23, the government declared general holidays from March 26 to April 4, aiming to prevent the transmission of coronavirus and then extended the holidays until April 9. The April 12 and 14 was declared holidays with the holiday of April 14, the first day of Bengali New Year.

On April 14, the government extended the holidays from April 15 to April 23, while April 24 and 25 are the weekend.
