General holidays declared for red zones in 10 districts

In a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus, general holidays have been announced in different areas of 10 districts marked as red zones.

The public administration ministry issued a gazette notification on Sunday (June 21) night, announcing general holidays in red zone areas in 10 districts.

General holidays have been declared for areas with high infections in the districts of Chattogram, Bogura, Chuadanga, Moulvibazar, Narayanganj, Habiganj, Munshiganj, Cumilla, Jashore and Madaripur.

According to the gazette notification, all government, semi-government and autonomous organisations in areas declared as red zones will remain shut.

All the employees, who are residents of red zones, will also enjoy this general holiday, it said.

However, emergency and essential services will remain out of the purview of the order.
