Global death toll from coronavirus rises to 4,633

The global death toll from novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has risen to 4,633 and the number of people infected with the fast-spreading virus now stands at 126,277 worldwide.

The lethal virus has already spread to 124 countries and territories across the world.

Around 68,286 coronavirus infected people have so far recovered after receiving treatment suggested for the virus and been discharged from hospitals.

Chinese authorities reported 11 more deaths related to the global coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday (March 11), bringing the total death toll to 3,169.

Mainland China has now confirmed 80,796 coronavirus patients, 62,801 of whom have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, according to China's National Health Commission (NHC).

Outside China, total number of COVID-19 cases is high in Italy.

Italian government authorities say the country now has 12,462 cases. So far, 827 people have died from coronavirus in the country and 1,045 recovered.

Iran reported a total number of 9,000 coronavirus cases among of them 354 have died and 2,959 recovered.

In South Korea, the death toll from coronavirus has risen to 66. The virus has already infected over 7,869 in the country. Of those originally infected, 333 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Among the other countries affected by the virus, Spain reported 55 deaths, France 48, the United States 38, Japan 15, the United Kingdom 8, Iraq 7, Netherlands 5, Switzerland 4. Germany, Belgium, Hong Kong and Australia reported 3 deaths each. On the other hand, Lebanon, San Marino and Philippines reported two deaths each while Egypt, Taiwan, Thailand, Argentina, Ireland, Indonesia, Sweden, Albania, Canada, Panama, Bulgaria and Morocco reported one death each.

Late last year, the outbreak of coronavirus began in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

The illness, whose symptoms are fever, cough and difficulty breathing, may cause lung lesions and pneumonia.
