Globe Biotech announces discovering Covid-19 vaccine

Globe Biotech Limited, a sister concern of Globe Pharmaceuticals group of companies limited has announced that it has discovered a vaccine against Coronavirus (Covid-19) for the first time in Bangladesh.

Harunur Rashid, chairman of Globe Pharmaceuticals made the announcement in a press conference in Tejgaon on Thursday (July 2).

He said, the task to invent vaccine started on March 8. If all levels can be crossed properly then it would be available in market within next 6 to 7 months.

Harunur Rashid further said, “We are working on new innovations not just for business, but also to do something for the country.”

“We did a preliminary trial on animals at our research center in Rupganj, Narayanganj. The rest of the work is currently underway in Globe Biotech's Tejgaon lab,” he added.

Dr Asif Mahmud, head of Research and Development in Biotech said: “In the primary trial, we have achieved success from the vaccine. It showed positive results in animal trial. We hope it will work for humans also.”

He said, “We will now take the matter to the concerned department of the government. Then, we will take next steps following their guidelines.”
